Purser / Duties and Workplaces
The ship’s purser is responsible for a wide range of tasks related to passenger services, comfort, and information on board. The purser usually has the main responsibility for communications on the vessel. Through their own work, the purser is responsible for the overall quality standard of the vessel, the smooth operation of gaming activities and machines, and the cleanliness of cabins and public areas together with their subordinates.
Education
There is no specific formal education for the profession of purser. Education in the hotel and tourism sector is considered an advantage when selecting a purser, but it is not mandatory. Proficiency in at least Swedish, English, and German is usually required.
