Engineer Officer
The number of engineer officers varies depending on the vessel and its cargo. Engineer officers stand watch in the engine room when required and supervise and lead work in the engine room under the direction of the chief engineer.
Education
A suitable qualification is a Bachelor of Engineering (UAS) degree. The vocational qualification in the maritime sector, engine officer training programme, also provides the competence required for engineer officer duties on certain types of vessels.
