Deck Officer
At sea, deck officers navigate, i.e. steer the vessel, and while on watch they handle tasks such as marine radio communications. Various reporting duties, as well as planning, procurement of equipment, and other preparatory work related to the next voyage, are also an integral part of a deck officer’s responsibilities.
Education
A deck officer usually holds at least a Watchkeeping Officer’s certificate.
